American Sorority Woman exists to help women become more visible, confident, grounded, and authentic leaders through sisterhood, leadership development, visibility experiences, and personal growth.

Our Story

What started as a pageant became something much bigger.

When I first created National American Sorority Woman, my vision was simple:

I wanted to create an experience where sorority women could be recognized, celebrated, and encouraged to grow.

But over time, I realized something.

The most meaningful part wasn't the crown.

It wasn't the title.

It wasn't even competition day.

It was who women became through the experience.

I watched women:

  • gain confidence

  • strengthen communication skills

  • find their voice

  • step into leadership

  • create impact

  • build meaningful relationships

And I realized there was a much bigger opportunity.

Not simply to crown women.

But to help women become.

A Personal Realization

For years, I thought I was building a pageant organization.

Then I had an unexpected realization.

As I explored other opportunities and reflected on what kind of impact I wanted to create, I found myself drawn toward teaching, mentoring, leadership development, and helping women grow.

And then it hit me.

I already had what I was looking for.

The bigger vision had been sitting in front of me all along.

American Sorority Woman was never just about titles.

It was about:

  • confidence

  • visibility

  • leadership

  • growth

  • sisterhood

  • becoming

That realization changed everything.

What We Believe

At American Sorority Woman, we believe:

  • Visibility creates opportunity.

What Does "Sorority" Mean?

Traditionally, sorority referred to membership within a Greek-letter organization.

While we honor and celebrate those roots, we believe the deeper meaning is even more powerful.

To us, sorority means:

Women growing together intentionally.

A modern sisterhood rooted in:

  • support

  • leadership

  • confidence

  • visibility

  • growth

It's less about membership.

And more about becoming

Founder, American Sorority Woman™

Hi, I'm Melissa Oates.

I'm a wife, mom, HR professional, entrepreneur, pageant titleholder, speaker, mentor, and lifelong believer in the power of women supporting women.

Throughout my life, I've seen what happens when women are given opportunities to:

  • lead

  • grow

  • become visible

  • build confidence

  • and believe in themselves

American Sorority Woman was created from that belief.

My hope is that every woman who enters this community leaves stronger, more confident, and more willing to step into who she was created to be.
